In fall 2023, Rotch Library launched a pilot project to make study spaces available 24/7 for the MIT community. After receiving very positive feedback throughout the year, the Libraries are pleased to announce that Rotch 24/7 study space will now be a permanent service.

Quiet study space and services (printing, computing, scanning) are available on the second (main) floor of Rotch 24 hours a day for MIT ID holders. Access to the book stacks on the upper floors and the GIS & Data Lab remains available during regular staffed library hours.

Expanding access to Rotch Library is another recent example of the MIT Libraries adapting our services to meet community needs. This spring, the Libraries announced an expansion of Hayden Library’s 24/7 study space to include the second floor. Additional 24/7 study space is also available with MIT ID in Barker and Dewey libraries.
