Library spaces
The MIT Libraries are seeking inventive new ways to help the community bloom. We’re developing ambitious plans to revitalize our spaces, including more options for group work and social interaction. We’re re-imagining the services we offer, adopting promising new information technologies, and dreaming of new, inspiring venues that allow for community-building, as well as quiet reflection. Opportunities to give to a particular space are listed below.
Building 14 Courtyard
The courtyard at the center of MIT’s Building 14 has been renovated, extending the welcoming community space of the library into the outdoors. Longtime plans to renovate the underutilized courtyard have been given new life with a design concept from Kennedy & Violich Architecture. The design considers how the MIT community can use this valuable space in all seasons, creating a new porch next to the Lewis Music Library, lush landscaping, and improved accessibility. Learn more
