Endowed Positions
Director of Libraries:
Endowment to fund the position of the Director of Libraries, leading the exploration of the Libraries’ role in new modes of learning and global engagement, and advancing MIT’s commitment and influence in the area of scholarly communication and open access.
Archivists and Curators:
Endowments to fund key positions in the Institute Archives and Special Collections, which serves as the “memory” of MIT, collecting and preserving records that document MIT’s history:
- Institute Archivist:
Senior leadership position responsible for shaping critical archival services for the MIT Administration and Faculty, as well as researchers worldwide. - Digital Archivist:
Position devoted to the acquisition, preservation, and management of the growing body of digital resources produced throughout the MIT community. - Rare Book and Special Collections Curator:
Position devoted to the acquisition, preservation, and management of rare book and special collections resources in high demand by faculty and researchers.
Librarians:
Endowments for the ongoing support of librarian positions that provide critical information services to the MIT community. Librarians leverage cutting-edge information technology and instruction expertise with in-depth subject knowledge to meet the demands of MIT’s world-class community. They create customized research assistance and online instruction tools for students, provide in-class instruction through collaborations with faculty, and lend support for faculty research and publishing by acquiring and managing online and print resources. Endowed positions include:
