We hope the upcoming Institute break will be restorative for the entire MIT community. Here are the library spaces and services available during this year’s winter break:
Library access and in-person services:
Throughout the break, 24/7 study space in Barker, Dewey, Hayden, and Rotch is available for community members with MIT ID.
Beginning at 4pm on Monday, Dec. 23, until Thursday, Jan. 2:
- Information desks will not be staffed
- Access to book stacks will be closed
- Scanning of items and office delivery will be unavailable
- Lewis Music Library will be closed
Distinctive Collections will be closed Monday, Dec. 23, until Thursday, Jan. 2.
Virtual help: Help via Ask Us will be unavailable starting at 5pm on Tuesday, Dec. 24, resuming on Thursday, Jan. 2.
Returning materials: Book drops are located at all library locations, the Stata Center, and outside Building 9 – Samuel Tak Lee Building, along the Massachusetts Ave. side. Please note that items returned during the break will be backdated when checked in.
Electronic resources: Access to electronic resources, such as ebooks, journals, databases, and streaming video and audio, will remain available through the break.
Courtyard Cafe: The cafe will be closed beginning Tuesday, Dec. 24, reopening Monday, Jan 6.
