Thinking about your dissertation already? Sick of sitting alone with your laptop? Keep in mind the Graduate Student Council (GSC) Dissertation Boot Camp! This summer, Barker Library played host to the most recent iteration of this event. The GSC Academics, Research and Careers Committee (ARC) scheduled the event, registered participants, and provided sustenance.

These Boot Camps offer a quiet place for students to work on their theses alongside other graduate students, proving that writing theses doesn’t have to be isolating. Boot Camps are offered prior to each thesis submission deadline (September, February, and June). The Libraries have hosted boot camps for the last two years, in a variety of locations. This summer, it was held in the Barker Group Study Space on the eighth floor.

The MIT Libraries enjoy our partnership with GSC in supporting student scholarship, and look forward to developing our spaces to better support our graduate students.
