Got a favorite book or author from Latin America? Please share your enthusiasm with other members of the MIT community at our Hispanic/Latinx Open Mic event!
Our Open Mic will be held in the Nexus, Hayden Library, 14S-130, between 5:30 and 6:30pm on October 13. We eagerly invite you to share a brief selection (up to 3 minutes) from a Latinx author, in any language. Poetry, prose, whatever – it’s all good. To help us plan please sign up to read (but by all means stay and enjoy all the selections).
Interested as a listener but not as a reader? No problem. Our Open Mic is open to all and no registration is required to attend. Drop in and stay for as long or short a time as you like; join us for light refreshments, friendly conversation, and a celebration of the rich variety of Latinx voices and perspectives.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated nationally every year from September 15 to October 15, and for this year’s celebration the MIT Libraries are joining forces with friends and colleagues from The Latino Employee Resource Group, Global Languages, Hermanas Unidas, MIT Mexico, the Sloan School Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Mujeres Latinas, and MIT Brazil.
