Ye Li and Kai Alexis Smith named ARL Leadership & Career Development Program fellows

Ye Li and Kai Smith

Ye Li (L) and Kai Alexis Smith (R)

Ye Li, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering librarian, and Kai Alexis Smith, art, architecture, and urban planning librarian, are among the 24 fellows chosen for the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Leadership & Career Development Program (LCDP) 2020–21 cohort.

The LCDP is a yearlong program to prepare mid-career librarians from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups to take on leadership roles in their careers and in the profession at large. The LCDP addresses the lack of representation of people of color and visible minorities in leadership ranks within academic and research institutions and other communities of practice.

Since ARL launched the LCDP in 1997, a large percentage of alumni have assumed significantly expanded responsibilities within their institutions and/or within professional organizations.
