The Aga Khan Documentation Center (AKDC@MIT) recently received a donation of over 4,000 images from Russell Harris, a researcher and editor at the Institute of Ismaili Studies in London. The images are Mr. Harris’ personal photography and document more than 100 different mosques, tombs, and other monuments in Cairo.

Selections from the generous donation will be added to Archnet. Many of these sites are poorly documented in other online and print resources, making the images an important addition to our collection. The vast breadth of the material will allow the AKDC to more fully develop existing site records already on Archnet and also to newly-document sites not previously represented there.

We have begun adding the images to Archnet – examples can be seen on the site in several records, and we will be adding more frequently, so check back often!
