Music at MIT Oral History Collection

For over 100 years music has been a vibrant part of MIT’s culture. On this site you will find in-depth interviews with faculty, staff, and former students about their musical experiences at the Institute, as well as their professional careers in music or other fields.

All interviews are accessible through streaming audio or video, with concurrent transcripts as well as downloadable audio files and written transcripts. Printed transcripts, audio CDs for most interviews, and further related archival background research material (upon request) are available in the Lewis Music Library.
