Audio Lab

  • The Audio Lab (14E-115) has two digital audio workstations with digital mixers, audio software and MIDI keyboards
  • Also available: digital piano, theremin, podcast mic, and turntable for scratching.
  • Software: Protools, Ableton Live, Reaper, Max, Supercollider, Final Cut Pro
  • Available to MIT community members and may be reserved ahead of time – learn how to reserve time in the Audio Lab.

Gaming Room

  • Equipment includes: Xbox One, VCR, CD, and DVD player.
  • Also available: Remotes, Xbox One games, Xbox controllers, and guitar controllers are available to check out from the Lewis service desk.
  • Room supports group listening and viewing.
  • Available to MIT community members and may be reserved ahead of time. Non-MIT visitors are welcome when the room isn’t in use or reserved.

Digital keyboards

  • 2 keyboard available on mezzanine level
  • Headphones available at circulation desk

Digitization station

  • Workstation for converting analog audio (vinyl, cassettes) to digital audio
  • Software: Reaper and Logic Pro

Music software to use in the library

MIT Kerberos login required; Guest logins (2hrs) are available at Lewis service desk.

Individual study & analog listening

  • Comfortable seating and large study tables on both floors.
  • Listening carrels containing CD players, turntables, cassette tape decks, VCRs, laserdisc player, and DVD players are located on the mezzanine.

Group study

  • Two group study rooms on the mezzanine are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Larger room has an LCD screen with laptop connectors.

24/7 study

  • The Lewis Music Library does not have 24/7 study space.
  • Space is available in the nearby Hayden Library.
