MIT's WorldCat
Limitations and known issues

Things to remember...
1. MIT's WorldCat may show that MIT doesn't own an item, but we do. To be sure, check Barton!

2. When you click on "check for electronic resources," SFX doesn't always find the item.
3. If you look up a series title (ex., "Progress in Brain Research"), the record may say "no copies were found at the MIT Libraries," when we actually have hundreds of volumes in that series, each with their own records. To verify if we own a volume, look up the title of the volume, and add the volume number to your search, or look up the series title in Barton.

4. A record may say "held by MIT Libraries," but then in the item detail area, no items are found from Barton. Usually this happens because we own a different edition, and it may not have the same OCLC number.
5. When waiting for availability and location information, an error message often pops up, especially for journals with a lot of volumes.
6. For records with a "view item online" button, even when we don't have access, you're directed to NetLibrary, where you get an error message.
7. Some books that are on loan are not showing that they are on loan or when they're due; instead, they say, "Check at circulation desk."
8. Journals that haven't been received yet are hidden in Barton, but are appearing in MIT's WorldCat.
9. A record might only show "internet resource" as its format when we own both the print version and online access.
