The platform is home to 700 journals, two thirds of which are open access, from 39 African countries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Archive-IT<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>MIT Libraries licenses access to the Archive-IT web archiving service to manage the archiving and access to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive-it.org\/home\/MIT\">web sites from the Institute and its affiliates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">arXiv<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">Through funding from the MIT Libraries, MIT is an institutional supporting member of this repository, which offers open access to e-prints in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Biology, Quantitative Finance and Statistics. <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/\"> More information<\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Authors Alliance<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>MIT Libraries is a member of the Authors Alliance Partner Program. Authors Alliance creates resources to help authors understand their rights and promote policies that make knowledge and culture available and discoverable. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.authorsalliance.org\/\"> More information<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">bioRxiv<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>MIT Libraries supports the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biorxiv.org\/\">bioRxiv<\/a> preprint repository for biology and biosciences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Bloomsbury Open Collections<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>MIT Libraries supports Bloomsbury&#8217;s collaborative funding initiative to make its African Studies and International Development collection of books open access. The collections are currently under development and are not yet available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">HathiTrust<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries is a financially supporting member of the HathiTrust, an international community of research libraries committed to the long-term curation of and access to the cultural record. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hathitrust.org\/\"> More information<\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Invest in Open Infrastructure<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">The Libraries is a member of the Sustaining Circle of <a href=\"https:\/\/investinopen.org\/\">Invest in Open Infrastructure<\/a>, which supports the adoption, implementation, and expansion of open infrastructure for research.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Knowledge Futures Group<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries is a contributing member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knowledgefutures.org\/\">Knowledge Futures Group<\/a>, a nonprofit that builds open source technology like the publishing platform <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pubpub.org\/\">PubPub<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Knowledge Unlatched<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries supports Knowledge Unlatched, which coordinates a coalition of libraries that share the costs of making books and <a href=\"https:\/\/knowledgeunlatched.org\/stem\/\">journals<\/a> open access. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowledgeunlatched.org\/\">More information<\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">KOALA consortium<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">The Libraries supports making computer science and mathematics journals open access without author fees via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tib.eu\/en\/services\/koala\">KOALA consortium<\/a>, based in Germany.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Language Science Press<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries&#8217; support contributes to Language Science Press\u2019s ability to offer open access publishing opportunities for books and journals related to linguistics. <a href=\"http:\/\/langsci-press.org\/index\"> More information<\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">LA Referencia<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries supports LA Referencia, a network of repositories that provide open access to research in Latin America. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lareferencia.info\/en\/\"> More information<\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">The Lens<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries supports the Lens Equitable Access Program, whose aim is to keep the scholarly database the Lens &#8220;inclusive, growing, open, and comprehensive.&#8221; The Lens aggregates metadata on scholarly works, patents, and biological sequences. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lens.org\/\/\"> More information<\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Libraria<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries supports Libraria, an open access publishing cooperative working to develop and test business models that will allow learned societies to \u201cflip\u201d their journals from a subscription model to an open access model without article processing fees. Libraria is currently focusing on journals in anthropology, archaeology, and neighboring fields. <a href=\"http:\/\/libraria.cc\/\">More information<\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">MIT Press Direct to Open<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p class=\"p1\">MIT Libraries contributed $100,000 to the <a href=\"https:\/\/direct.mit.edu\/books\/pages\/direct-to-open\">MIT Press initiative Direct to Open (D2O)<\/a>. These funds were used to encourage participation in D2O by smaller and less well-resourced institutions by subsidizing their participation.<\/p>\n<p>The Libraries has previously funded the MIT Press <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/news\/press-launch-print\/28505\/\">Strong Ideas series<\/a>, as well as funding an additional 5-10 scholarly OA monographs each year. A sample of titles made open through this funding include: The <a href=\"https:\/\/mitpress.mit.edu\/books\/mobile-workshop\">Mobile Workshop<\/a> (Mavhunga, 2018), <a href=\"https:\/\/mitpress.mit.edu\/books\/resonant-games\">Resonant Games<\/a> (Klopfer, 2019), <a href=\"https:\/\/mitpress.mit.edu\/books\/does-america-need-more-innovators\">Does America need more innovators?<\/a> (Wisnioski, 2019).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Open Access Community Investment Program<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">The Libraries supports diamond open access journals (which are both free to read and publish in) via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lyrasis.org\/content\/Pages\/oacip.aspx\">Lyrasis OACIP<\/a>, a community-driven framework that enables multiple stakeholders to strategically evaluate and collectively fund open access.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA)<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">The Libraries is a supporter of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oaspa.org\/\">OASPA<\/a>, whose members include an international group of scholar-led and professional publishers of books and journals, as well as infrastructure and other services. OASPA promotes best practices and equitable business models in open access publishing.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Open Book Collective<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">The Libraries supports the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openbookcollective.org\/\">Open Book Collective<\/a>, which brings together an international group of OA book publishers, open publishing service providers, and knowledge institutions.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Open Library of the Humanities<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries&#8217; financial support contributes to OLH&#8217;s ability to offer open access publishing to authors without payment of publication fees. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openlibhums.org\/plugins\/supporters\/\"> More information<\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Open Policy Finder<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">The Libraries supports the <a href=\"https:\/\/openpolicyfinder.jisc.ac.uk\/\"> Open Policy Finder<\/a> (formerly Sherpa services), a curated database of journal, publisher, and funder policies where authors can check their rights to share their works online.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">OSF Preprints <\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries and other Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation partner institutions are providing financial support for the Center for Open Science\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/osf.io\/preprints\"> OSF Preprints<\/a>, an open source platform and infrastructure.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Redalyc\/AmeliCA<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries supports the Redalyc OA journals index and articles platform for works published in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, Portugal, and other countries. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redalyc.org\/redalyc\/acerca-de\/scoss.html\">More information<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Research Organization Registry <\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">The Libraries supports the <a href=\"https:\/\/ror.org\/\"> Research Organization Registry (ROR)<\/a>, an openly available and community-run database of persistent identifiers for research organizations, akin to <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.mit.edu\/authorids\">ORCIDs for individuals<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"expandable\">\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Reveal Digital Collections<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">MIT Libraries has provided financial support for the following collections from Reveal Digital: Independent Voices, Diversity and Dissent: Civil Society in 20th Century America, and Newspapers from the Rise and Fall of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s.
