In it, the GSC affirms its support for the <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/scholarly\/publishing\/framework\/\">MIT Framework for Publisher Contracts<\/a>, urges MIT faculty to follow <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/scholarly\/mit-open-access\/open-access-policy\/\">MIT Faculty Open Access Policy<\/a>, calls upon MIT students and scholars to sign the <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/scholarly\/mit-open-access\/opt-in-oa-license\/\">MIT Authors\u2019 opt-in Open Access License<\/a>, and encourages new methods of communicating and evaluating scientific research:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>GSC calls for the adoption of preprints and other innovative scholar communication methods to reshape the current publication system, accelerate the communication of scientific discoveries, and restore healthy incentives in biomedical research;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1KLbj4UEGR8c_TT9sxt5D68JEIwDl7nof\/view\">Read the full resolution on the GSC website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since 1953, the Graduate Student Council\u2019s core mission has been to\u00a0represent\u00a0and\u00a0advocate\u00a0for graduate students across all departments and backgrounds to MIT and beyond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On March 4, 2026, the General Council of the MIT Graduate Student Council (GSC) approved a Resolution on Scientific Publishing and MIT Libraries.
