You\u2019ve completed your research and even published your article open access, using some of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/scholarly\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">great resources from the MIT Libraries<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. You are making great strides in establishing yourself as an individual committed to open and equitable research and scholarship. Are you ready for your next step?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">DATA!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s right \u2013 the nitty gritty information, analyses, and code that your research is founded on and that enable your successful scholarship are also prime candidates for publication. But how? There are a plethora of paths you might select, and fortunately the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/data-management\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MIT Libraries Data Management Services<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is here to help out with a number of community-supported resources and guidance on making good choices between them. (We are also available for consultations if you\u2019d like to trek further down these winding ways).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your foundational resource for publishing<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mitoataskforce.pubpub.org\/pub\/1120progressreport#n52rtle4al\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> information, analyses, code, and data associated with your scholarship and research<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is known as a research data repository. We are happy at the MIT Libraries to support an evolving ecosystem of repository options, and are particularly delighted with our two most recent additions: Dryad and the Qualitative Data Repository. These join our currently recommended research data repositories: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dataverse.harvard.edu\/dataverse\/mit\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dataverse<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icpsr.umich.edu\/web\/pages\/deposit\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ICPSR<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/data-management\/store\/osf\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">OSF<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/zenodo.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Zenodo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-38269 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/10\/Dryad-300x57.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"57\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/10\/Dryad-300x57.png 300w, https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/10\/Dryad.png 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/datadryad.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dryad<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dryad is a non-profit, community-owned data repository hosted by the California Digital Library that ensures published data are discoverable, freely reusable, and citable (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/datadryad.org\/stash\/our_mission\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">https:\/\/datadryad.org\/stash\/our_mission<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">). All content in Dryad is available for the public to view and download (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/public-domain\/cc0\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CC0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">), free of charge, via an online interface, with a persistent digital object identifier (DOI). In addition to storage and access, Dryad also provides<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/datadryad.org\/stash\/mission#our-curation-and-publication-process\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> light data curation services<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which include submission of associated code, scripts, and software packages to Zenodo. A unique characteristic of Dryad is its integration with a number of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/datadryad.org\/stash\/join_us#members\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">publishers\u2019 platforms and workflows<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, including\u00a0 eLife, John Wiley &amp; Sons, Inc, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Geophysical Union (AGU), Cambridge University Press<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-38271\" src=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/10\/QDR-300x186.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"124\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/10\/QDR-300x186.png 300w, https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/app\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/10\/QDR.png 325w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/qdr.syr.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Qualitative Data Repository (QDR)<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">QDR specializes in curation, storage, and sharing of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/qdr.syr.edu\/deposit\/data\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> qualitative digital data<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and associated documentation. Having started in the social sciences field, QDR is structured to provide restricted and controlled access to published datasets, free of charge, and<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/qdr.syr.edu\/content\/curation-and-preservation-services\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> works intensively with each project<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/qdr.syr.edu\/policies\/curation\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> data curation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, often starting at the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/qdr.syr.edu\/guidance\/templates#dmp-insert\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Data Management Plan (DMP) stage<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. QDR is a<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coretrustseal.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> CoreTrustSeal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> certified trustworthy data repository. We are a QDR member, and our membership level supports the intensive curation, storage, and access of five projects this academic year.
