Housed on the first floor of Rotch Library (7-238), the lab offers resources in geographic information systems (GIS), data visualization, data management, and statistical software for the Institute community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here\u2019s what you need to know about this new resource for the community and how you can use the lab:\u00a0<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>These powerful computers are available to the entire MIT community.<br \/>\n<\/b>Run complex data processing tasks in less time with computing power you won\u2019t find on other shared machines on campus (Aurora R15, RTX4090, Intel Core i9-13900F, <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/data-services\/gis-data-lab\">see more specs<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li><b>You don\u2019t need to book a time to come use the computers in the lab.<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Drop in anytime during the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/hours\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">lab\u2019s hours<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. If you would like to use computers outside of regular hours, or are unable to come to Rotch Library, submit our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/forms-private\/gis\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">help request form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to make a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.mit.edu\/gis\/computers\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reservation to use them remotely<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>You don\u2019t need to be working on GIS projects to use the lab.<br \/>\n<\/b>Use the lab if you are part of the Institute community and working on MIT-related work. Please note that projects using software already installed on the computers take priority.<\/li>\n<li><b>You can suggest new software. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.mit.edu\/gis\/computers#s-lg-box-wrapper-4119314\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">See what\u2019s available<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on lab computers.
