Marie Polymise has been named Director of Human Resources, the MIT Libraries announced today. Reporting to the Associate Director for Administrative Services, the director will oversee talent acquisition, development, and retention; HR information systems and data management; student and temporary employment; and other functions, all in the context of promoting the Libraries’ values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Polymise will begin serving in her new role on May 1, 2023.

“Marie comes to MIT with more than 22 years of human resources experience and is familiar with the complex needs of a top research library,” says Stephanie Richardson, Associate Director for Administrative Services at the Libraries. “Moreover, we were impressed by her encouraging, advocacy-based management style and commitment to developing relationships with individuals to improve the work environment.”

Polymise was most recently the Human Resources Business Partner for the Sheridan Libraries and Museums at Johns Hopkins University (JHU), where she has served in other roles since 2008, including Senior International Human Resources Generalist and Senior Compensation Analyst. Polymise engaged with colleagues across the JHU campus and served as a member of the university’s Diversity Leadership Council. She received an MBA from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School and a BS in Business Administration from International University in Miami, Florida.

“I am honored to be part of the MIT community and more so the MIT Libraries,” says Polymise. “I am eager to commence this journey of new discoveries and initiatives in a spirit of collaboration and humility.”

Polymise was selected from a highly competitive pool of candidates as part of a nationwide search led by EDDA Partners.
