Erin Stalberg named Associate Director for Collections

Erin Stalberg has been named the Associate Director for Collections, the MIT Libraries announced today. Reporting to Director Chris Bourg, the Associate Director is part of the senior leadership team of the Libraries and will have responsibility for providing strategic leadership for general and distinctive collections in support of MIT’s local and global mission. 

“I’m thrilled to welcome Erin to the MIT Libraries,” says Bourg. “Erin brings deep experience in leading teams and guiding complex projects to this crucial role. I look forward to working with her on advancing openness and equity in scholarly communications, expanding collective collections building, and supporting new computational uses for collections.”

Stalberg is currently the director of Discovery and Access at Mount Holyoke College, where she has led Library, Information, and Technology Services’ staff in Access Services, Discovery Services, and Digital Assets and Preservation Services. Stalberg also chaired the College’s Technology Access Committee. Prior to working at Mount Holyoke, Stalberg was head of Metadata and Cataloging at North Carolina State University Libraries, and head of Cataloging Services at the University of Virginia Library. She holds a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and an M.L.S. from Drexel University.

As associate director for Collections, Stalberg will lead the departments of Scholarly Communications and Collections Strategy, Distinctive Collections, and Acquisitions and Appraisal. Stalberg will begin her appointment in May.
