Envisioned by AKDC Program Head, <a href=\"https:\/\/mit.academia.edu\/SharonSmith\">Sharon C. Smith, Ph.D.<\/a>, the tool has become a reality thanks to the design and\u00a0programming expertise of James Yamada (Master in Design Studies, Harvard GSD).<\/p>\n<p>Ali Asgar Alibhai (Ph.D. candidate, Harvard NELC) provided the content for the pilot project by analyzing textual sources of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Ibn-Jubayr\">Ibn Jubayr\u2019s<\/a> 12th century pilgrimage from\u00a0 Spain to Mecca.\u00a0 The resulting map documents Ibn Jubayr\u2019s travels temporally, geographically, and with accompanying descriptions of the cities and sites he visited.\u00a0 Images and information about those cities and sites is linked to <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/\">Archnet<\/a>\u2013AKDC\u2019s globally-accessible, intellectual resource focused on architecture, urbanism, environmental and landscape design, visual culture, and conservation issues related to the Muslim world\u2013to provide more context.<\/p>\n<p>While James, Ali, and Sharon continue to develop the tool and refine the interface, we welcome users to view <a href=\"https:\/\/archnetmaps.herokuapp.com\/spacetimemaps.html\">Ibn Jubayr\u2019s travels in LayerCake<\/a> and provide feedback for this test case.\u00a0 Please send questions, comments, and suggestions to the project PI, <a href=\"mailto:scsmith@mit.edu\">Sharon C.
