Among her publications was <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Islamic Monuments of Cairo: The Practical Guide<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0 Currently in its 7th edition, the text <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is a classic educational guide to the history of Islamic architecture in the city. Caroline and her husband <a href=\"https:\/\/mesana.org\/news\/2023\/02\/14\/in-memoriam-john-alden-williams-1928-2022\">John Alden Williams<\/a> (d. 2022), himself a distinguished scholar of Islamic history, took thousands of photos in Egypt and other parts of the Middle East as part of their research on art and architecture. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archnet.org\/collections\/20\">sample of their collection<\/a> formed one of the earliest groups of images available on the Archnet Digital Library. In 2017, Caroline Williams <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.mit.edu\/akdc\/2019\/01\/12\/archive-of-john-and-caroline-williams\/\">graciously donated<\/a> the majority of their collection of 35 mm slides to the Aga Khan Documentation Center, where they are available for research and reference.
