The A3-Archnet Collaborative<\/a> for the Documentation of Africa\u2019s built heritage will hold an online public panel on “Endangered Heritage,” July 31 at 16:30-18:30 WAT\/11:30-13:30 EDT.\u00a0 The panel will include three presenters known for their work in cultural heritage preservation: \u1e62\u1ecdl\u00e1 Ak\u00ednt\u00fand\u00e9<\/a>, Founder Trustee, WASCHTrust (West Africa Shared Cultural Heritage Trust); Kuukuwa Manful,\u00a0 Principal Investigator for the Accra Archive<\/a>: and Raj Yudhishthir Isar, Director of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture Education Programme<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The panel will be moderated by Baba Oladeji<\/a>, Founder of the A3-Archives of African Architecture<\/a>, and Michael Toler<\/a>, Archnet Content Manager in the Aga Khan Documentation Center.<\/p>\n

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required<\/a>.\u00a0 The deadline for registration is Thursday, July 30 at 17:00 WAT\/12:00 (noon) WAT. Please direct inquiries should to: a3-archnet@mit.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

AKDC@MIT and A3 have been awarded a MISTI grant<\/a> to conduct in-person meetings and workshops to advance this project, but those events had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. In order to not hinder progress, a series of online orientations were organized, hosted on a platform provided by the Abdul Lateef Jameel World Education Lab<\/a> (J-WEL). This public panel is the last in a series of four online meetings of the collaboration.<\/p>\n

In previous sessions, Oladeji and Toler led participants in discussions of archiving and documentation standards, what constitutes high-risk cultural heritage, and vehicles for publication and dissemination of architectural documentation.\u00a0 Participants also analyzed one another’s essays and discussed their next documentation projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
