He documented this period in albums he compiled on historic sites in <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/collections\/829\">Damascus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/collections\/151\">Aleppo<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/collections\/665\">across Syria<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 1946 he became Director of Urban Planning in Morocco where he drew up development plans for <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/10289\">Rabat-Sal\u00e9<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/10130\">Casablanca<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/10292\">Beni Mellal<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/collections\/669\">other cities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 1955, he opened a private agency in Paris, and it is this period that is best represented on Archnet.\u00a0 Among the firms projects were the urban development of <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/10124\">Dakar<\/a> (1963-1967), <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/10361\">Damascus<\/a> (1964-1968), <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/8377\">Beirut<\/a> (1961-1963), Tabriz (1966-1968), a new capital for the Sultanate of Oman (1973), and <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/collections\/792\">housing for refugees<\/a> near the Pakistani capital of Karachi.<\/p>\n<p>Notable architectural projects of the practice include the the <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/9564\">Museum of Mohenjo Daro<\/a>, Pakistan (1958); the <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/8374\">H\u00f4pital du Sacr\u00e9-C\u0153ur<\/a> in Baabda, Lebanon (1962); the <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/9925\">Chancellery of the Embassy of France<\/a> in Yaounde, Cameroon; the Kuwait National Museum; and numerous other projects around the world.<\/p>\n<p><span data-offset-key=\"a2a9s-2-0\">He is a Laureate of the <a href=\"http:\/\/archnet.org\/collections\/awards\">Aga Khan Award for Architecture<\/a> for his work on <a href=\"https:\/\/archnet.org\/sites\/337\">restoring the Azem Palace<\/a>.\u00a0 <\/span><span data-offset-key=\"a2a9s-4-0\">\u00c9cochard donated his archive to the Award shortly before his passing.
