For many decades, the Libraries\u2019 collection of detective fiction has served to provide that escape. Before the Internet, before there was a television in every dorm room, students here at \u201cTech\u201d would curl up with some lighthearted prose for the occasional respite.<\/p>\n<p>The seventh installment in Sue Grafton\u2019s \u201calphabet series\u201d is a contribution to this long Institute tradition. It\u2019s no secret that today\u2019s student is more likely to turn to the Web rather than a novel for a well-earned study break. But the countless date-due stamps at the back of MIT&#8217;s copy of <em>\u201cG\u201d Is for Gumshoe<\/em> speak for themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Nor can anyone deny the sheer success and popularity of Grafton\u2019s \u201cKinsey Millhone\u201d mysteries. In fact, it was after the publication of <em>\u201cG\u201d Is for Gumshoe <\/em> that the author was finally able to quit her day job as a screenwriter.
