MIT's
Lewis Music
Library has an extensive collection of music in a variety
of formats, covering Western art music as well as electronic,
jazz, blues, folk, popular, film and world music. If you do not
find the music materials you are looking for, contact the Lewis
Music Library or Ask
Us!
How
do I search for a CD?
Use
the Advanced
Search. This allows you to limit by format and make your
search more specific.
- Click
Search by Physical Format.

- Select
the format you want (CDs, DVDs, music scores, etc.). You will
be searching only items in that format until
you return to the full catalog or choose another format.

- Enter
your words in the Keyword Anywhere box.
- Use
truncation (*) for plurals or other word endings.
e.g.:
symphon* = symphony, symphonies, etc.
Tip:
To see whether you are searching a specific format or the full
catalog, look above your search boxes.

do I find a recording of world music? |

- From
the Advanced Search screen, click Search by Physical
Format.
- Select
the format you want.

- Look
through your results to find those that best match your search.

do I find printed music scores? |
|
From
the Advanced
Search screen:
- Click
Search by Physical Format.
- Select
the format you want (CDs, DVDs, music scores, etc.)
- Search
for performers' names as Keyword Anywhere.
Example:
To find Beethoven's Piano Sonata no. 32 Opus 111:

- Look
through your results to find those that best match your search.
- Click
Display full record for more information.
