Do
you know the author's name?

- On
the Basic Search screen, change Search type to
Author (last name first).
Unsure

type to Author keyword.

Author Keyword if the "author" is a
group or an organization and you are unsure of its precise name.

Note:
Leave off any initial articles (the, a, le etc.).
- Select
your title from the alphabetical list. Your title should be
the second entry.

- On
the Basic Search screen, change Search type to
Title Keyword.

to the Advanced Search.
- Enter
author words in the top box.
- Enter
words describing the topic in the second box (select Keyword
Anywhere).

- Select
the book from the list.

subject headings and other parts of the record.

Note:
When
2 words are entered on the Basic Search screen an "and"
relationship is assumed between the 2 words. Only records containing
both words (either as a phrase or apart) will be retrieved.
Tip:
For more complex keyword searches or to search for 2
or more words as a phrase go to the Advanced Search.

Using
subject headings to find items on your topic.
- Most
Barton records contain subject headings that describe the subject
of the item.
-
As you look at the results of your keyword search, scan the
subject headings for any that apply to your topic.
- When
you find a useful heading, click it to retrieve other records
about the same subject.
Tip:
To see all of the subject headings for an item, click the Display
full record link.

Tip:
Most subject headings are further subdivided. Scan these sub-headings
to see if any more describe your topic more closely.

can I tell if the item is on the shelf? |

either All items or the link for the specific
library.
- Check
the Status/Due Date column to see whether the
book is on the shelf or checked out.
