Start with BartonPlus, the MIT Libraries search tool for articles, books/e-books, other e-resources, & more.

We have other search tools for quick look-ups, as well as tools and web sites for more in-depth searching and browsing. Look below for your best bets! Still not sure? Ask Us! or see our Web Site Search.

E-journals & databases

Start with Vera: e-journals and databases.
Search by the name of the journal or article database. Do NOT search for article titles here.

If not found, use the journals search in Barton: MIT Libraries’ catalog.
Search for older print journals here.

If still not found, request via ILLiad/Interlibrary Borrowing.
You may request PDFs of specific articles in journals from non-MIT libraries, ~1-2 business days.

LibX is a browser add-on that lets you quickly search Vera, Barton, and other library search tools.

Books & media

Start with Barton: MIT Libraries’ catalog.

If you can’t find it, or the book is out on loan:

First, search MIT’s WorldCat. From there you can request items from non-MIT libraries via Borrow Direct and the Boston Library Consortium (BLC). ~3-5 days
For items not in MIT’s WorldCat, request via ILLiad/Interlibrary Borrowing. 7+ days
