Loans to non-MIT institutions - Interlibrary Loan

Document Services lends original materials owned by the MIT Libraries to other institutions. We do not lend MIT theses; however we do sell electronic and paper copies.

To search the MIT Libraries' collection, consult Barton, the Libraries' online catalog.

Lending Policies and Prices

Items are lent to institutions in the U.S. and Canada, not to individuals. The charge for lending is $25 per volume with additional fees for shipping listed below. Shipping fees do not apply if you use your own service (ie provide us with a FedEx account number).

There is no charge for loans to members of the Boston Library Consortium who have reciprocal relationships with MIT or companies belonging to the Industrial Liaison Program.

Rush pricing is available: please add $15 for a 1 day rush and $10 for 2-day rush to the base cost of $25.
