I Am Not Your Negro, Raoul Peck’s Oscar-nominated documentary about James Baldwin, is now available to view through the Kanopy streaming service. Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, Peck’s documentary uses selections from the author’s books as well as manuscript notes and letters to imagine a book he never finished, Remember This House. Though written more than a few decades ago, Baldwin’s eloquent and unflinching language speaks powerfully to race relations in the United States today.

The film is also available through the Libraries on DVD. Peck also produced a book that highlights sections from the documentary, which is available in the Hayden Browsery.
