Murphy recognized for service

MIT archivist receives distinguished service award

Nora MurphyAt the annual spring meeting of the New England Archivists (NEA) on March 21, 2015 in Boston, Nora Murphy was awarded the NEA Distinguished Service Award. Murphy is the Archivist for Reference, Outreach, and Instruction at the Institute Archives and Special Collections in the MIT Libraries and prior to joining MIT in 2000, she worked in various state, federal, religious, private archives in the Boston area. Murphy has a BA in History from Boston College and a MA in History and Archival Methods from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

According to its website, the “NEA grants the New England Archivists Distinguished Service Award (DSA) to individuals or institutions who are dedicated to the promotion of NEA objectives and who have made significant contributions to the profession, their institution, NEA and/or the archival community in New England. The award shall reflect the total experience of the awardee and is based upon knowledge, leadership, participation and achievements in the profession.”
