What kind of music do you have?

  • We have a wide range of music including classical, jazz, electronic, world music, pop, folk & film music.

  • We collect books, scores (printed music), journals, CDs, LPs, DVDs, laser discs, and videos.

How large is the collection?

  • There are 35,000 music scores, 30,000 recordings (over 15,000 are CDs), 15,000 books, 75 print journal subscriptions and more than 75 electronic journals covering music.

How do I find things?

What materials can I check out of the library?

  • Circulation privileges are available to the MIT community.
  • Books and scores circulate for 28 days.
  • CDs and DVDs circulate for 3 days.

  • iPods circulate for 1 day.

What kind of study space do you have?

  • 30 listening stations and a group viewing/listening room.
  • Private study rooms and a reading area.
  • Internet connections and wireless capability.
  • Probably the most comfortable lounge chairs on campus!

Where are you located?

  • Building 14E-109 (located on the ground floor of the Hayden Library Building).

When are you open?

  • Fall/Spring Semester hours are: Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-10:00pm; Friday, 8:30am-6:00pm; Saturday, 1:00pm-6:00pm; Sunday, 1:00pm-10:00pm.
