MIT Libraries' new Metadata Unit partners with OCW
The Libraries are participating in a historic collaboration with MIT's OpenCourseWare (OCW). With tens of thousands of digital resources to organize, OCW partnered with the Libraries to create metadata for OCW material. The Libraries, via the new Metadata Unit, helped plan workflows, aided in content management system design, and enhanced metadata provided by OCW course authors.
The Unit is also participating in designing an enhanced search interface for OCW to make resource discovery as powerful as possible. The Libraries were pleased to be able to contribute to OCW reaching its goal of 500 fully published courses available to the world on September 30, 2003.
In addition to continuing its partnership with OCW, the Metadata Unit is avaliable for fee-based metadata consulting and production services.
