Don't see the Annex item you need listed in Barton?

Use a Placeholder Item

Journal and serial records in Barton sometimes display incomplete listings of volumes. For Library Storage Annex journals and serials, a "placeholder" item allows you to request volumes you don't see listed. Here's how it works:

  • Search the Barton catalog for the item you'd like to request. (If you need help searching the catalog, see the Barton Basics self-help guide.)
  • Check the Availability/Holdings Display in the Barton record to see the range of volumes/years kept in the Library Storage Annex.

  • Now check the individual volume listings. If you don't see a volume listed that's within the range of Library Storage Annex coverage, then use the placeholder item at the end of the list.

  • MIT patrons: Use the Request item button to have volumes delivered to any MIT Libraries circulation desk via Your Account. Use the Request PDF button to have Annex-owned articles delivered via ILLiad.
  • Non-MIT patrons: Use the Annex web form to have volumes delivered to any MIT Libraries circulation desk. Use Web-Docs to request PDF delivery of Annex-owned articles (~$12).
