Course Reserves

Student questions about course reserves | Faculty questions

1. How do I get to Lindgren Library?
Lindgren Library (54-200) is located on the second floor of Building 54. Enter from the side closest to Ames Street. On weekends the building is often locked, requiring ID card access. On weekends and evenings when the entrance is locked use the card reader near the left door as you face the building. Students without an ID card can travel through the basement to the building 54 elevators and stairwell.

2. How do reserve items circulate?
Reserve books circulate for 2 hours at a time. After 4 pm reserve books may be borrowed overnight, due one hour after the library opens the NEXT day. You must request the overnight loan so we can change the due date and time. With a few holiday exceptions, Lindgren Library is open 7 days a week. Lindgren Library doesnąt restrict the number of reserve items that may be borrowed at one time.

3. Are there late return fines?
Yes. Reserve fines are calculated at $3.00 for every hour or portion thereof that an item is overdue. There is a courtesy fifteen-minute grace period. Fines continue to accrue until the item is returned or replacement charge of $150.00 is assessed for an item that is not returned at all.

4. Can reserve items be returned to any library circulation desk?
No, reserve items MUST be returned to the library where they are on reserve.

4. Can reserve items be renewed?
Lindgren Library reserve books may be renewed at Lindgren Library only, provided no one else is waiting for them. Renewals may be in person or by telephone, for two-hour increments, with a maximum of three renewals. After three renewals reserve books must be brought back to the library. After 4 pm reserve books may be borrowed overnight, due one hour after the library opens the NEXT day. There are no weekend loans.

5. Can I "reserve" a reserve item?
In fairness to all students we do not allow anyone to "reserve" reserve items. Also if we know someone else is waiting for a reserve book we do not allow it to be renewed.
