Access to Your Account in Barton Using Touchstone

Your Account in the Barton catalog allows you to see what books you have checked out, among other features. See Your Account in the Circulation FAQ for more information.
As of July 2009, access to Your Account is now via MIT's Touchstone service.

Directions for MIT users with Kerberos accounts

Access is very simple. Simply click on the Your Account link while in the Barton catalog, or go to http://libraries.mit.edu/barton-account. Touchstone will securely allow you to use either your MIT certificates or your Kerberos ID and password to log in.

Directions for users without Kerberos accounts but with library borrowing privileges

Privilege card holders, BLC members, spouses, etc.

You can access Your Account via a Touchstone Collaboration Account.

If you are a new user without a Kerberos account, you must first register in person for a library account at any of the MIT Libraries' service desks and be sure to ask for access to Your Account.

If you are an existing user without a Kerberos account, you may use this form to contact a staff member who will help you register for Your Account, or simply visit any of the MIT Libraries' service desks.

In either case, you will be sent an email from the MIT Libraries explaining the steps for getting access to Your Account.

Troubleshooting Touchstone Collaboration Account Access

If you have any trouble accessing Your Account, please Ask Us! for help.

You never received the confirmation email for your Touchstone Collaboration Account.
Check your spam folder/filter - since this is an automated email, spam filters will sometimes mistake it for spam (the subject of the email will be "Barton account registration").
You forgot your collaboration account password.
Use the Touchstone password request form.
You want to logout, but you can't find a logout button.
You must close your browser to securely logout of Your Account.
You are immediately prompted to enter your Collaboration Account username/password (and you want to use Kerberos/certificates), or you are prompted to log in with Kerberos/certificates (and you want to use a Collaboration Account).
Your computer somehow has a cookie set to bypass the inital type of login you want to do (this is a nice feature if it is set correctly!). See: Reset Your Touchstone Defaults
You aren't sure your Touchstone Collaboration Account is working.
You can always test to see if your Touchstone Collaboration Account is working. If you successfully log in to that test, but you can't get access to Your Account Ask Us! for help.
