Harvard College Libraries Special Borrower Card Application

If your work requires extensive use of resources not available at MIT, you may qualify for access to the Harvard College Libraries.

Eligibility:

Borrowing privileges
- MIT graduate students
- MIT research staff
- MIT faculty

Room use only
- MIT undergraduates

For how long is my card valid?

Faculty and Research Staff September 1 – August 31
Graduate Students

September 1 – May 31

To apply for borrowing privileges:

Fill out the form below. If you qualify, a pdf of your approved form will be sent as soon as possible, and no later than 5:00 pm the next business day. Present a printed copy of the pdf and your MIT ID to the Library Privileges Office in Widener Library 130, Harvard Yard, between Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 4:45 pm. You will be charged a processing fee for the Special Borrower card

If you need immediate access to a Harvard Library, bring your MIT ID to the service desk at Barker, Dewey, Hayden, or Rotch Libraries, and fill out the appropriate forms at the desk.
