Overlooking the Charles River, Hayden offers quiet spaces with spectacular views or you can hide away in the basement!

Individual study

  • Large tables and carrels located on all floors.
  • Comfortable seating in many window nooks on 1st & 2nd floors.

Group study

  • Basement – partially enclosed space next to Athena Cluster – for up to 8 people.
  • 1st floor – two rooms for up to 6 people. Chalkboards. First come, first served.
  • 3rd floor - holds up to 10 people – includes whiteboard, screen with laptop hookup. Reservable – see Reserve a group study room for details.

24/7 space

Available to the left of the main entrance to Hayden Library. The space includes:

  • Comfortable furniture for studying and a view of the Lipschitz Courtyard & artwork.
  • Several computer workstations, an Athena printer, a photocopier/scanner, and two group study rooms.
  • Entry to this room (after hours) is restricted to members of the MIT Community with a valid MIT ID.
  • To promote a safe and secure environment in this room when Hayden Library is closed, an emergency phone with a direct line to MIT Campus Police is provided.
