Data Centers

Harvard-MIT Data Center (HMDC)
Resource for MIT affiliates to store and retrieve data. Houses data collections from ICPSR, the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research, and others.

Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR)
Maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data, including several Special Topic Archives.

Roper Center for Public Opinion Research
Provides access to polls covering a range of social, business, and policy issues.

MIT Geodata Repository
International collection of GIS datasets covering a variety of topics, in the social sciences and beyond.

Access to Archival Databases (National Archives)
Online access to a selection of nearly 50 million historic electronic records created by more than 20 federal agencies.

Council of European Social Science Data Archives
Links to data archives across Europe, including a common integrated catalog among several members.

International Federation of Data Organizations
Provides links to several data archives and resources.

State Data Center Program
Working with the U.S. Census Bureau, the State Data Centers are a source of microdata at the county, city or community level.

TheDataWeb
Network of online data libraries from multiple U.S. federal agencies and individual researchers. Access to data is via DataFerrett.

University of Virginia Geospatial & Statistical Data Center
Houses searchable electronic versions of numerous U.S. federal surveys and statistical publications, including County Business Patterns, the County and City Data Books, and the Historical Census Browser.
