Cited Reference Search

Use this search to see who has cited a particular article, author, or journal.

  1. At the bottom of the screen, Select database(s) and timespan e.g., Science Citation Index (if you do not, you will search all three databases).
  2. At the top of the screen, click Cited Reference Search .
  3. Enter your search terms. Enter the author’s name and/or the title of the cited work (the journal or conference in which the article appeared). See Web of Science Help for more information. Click Search to perform the search.
  4. Select from the Cited Reference Index.
Each record in the list includes number of times cited, cited author, cited work (abbreviated title of the source), year, volume, and page.
(Note: If the author name is preceded by " . . .", then the author is not the first listed author of the paper.)
  5. Retrieve list of articles that cite an article(s)
Click the box to select specific article(s), Select Page for the items on that page, or the Select All button for entire list. Click Finish Search.

Web of Science returns a list of all the articles in the database that cite any of the selected records.
