ChemDraw Ultra

Thanks to the generosity of a group of faculty in the MIT Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science & Engineering Departments and Science Library, we have a site license to ChemDraw Ultra 10.0 that will allow anyone at MIT to use this chemical structure drawing tool.

ChemDraw Installation

The applications suite includes (some only available in Windows (W) environment) - ChemDraw Ultra 10.0, MestReC (W), BioDraw Ultra 10.0, Chem3D Std 10.0 (W), ChemFinder Std 10.0 (W), and E-Notebook Std 10.0 (W).

Follow these steps to download the software:

1. If you have not registered with CambridgeSoft, please do it now at: http://www.cambridgesoft.com/register/
2. To verify that you are entitled to download the software, enter your MIT email address at this page: http://scistore.cambridgesoft.com/sitelicense.cfm?sid=488
3. You will get an email that will include an URL for downloading the software and your personal serial numbers for Windows and Macintosh software (they are different).
4. Note also that our license includes software for E-Notebook Std 10.0 for Windows only – you can opt out of installing it.
5. If you have any difficulty installing the software, follow these steps again. The CambridgeSoft server may be busy.

ChemDraw Re-activation

PC Software:

• Startup ChemDraw Ultra
• On the Help menu, choose activate, and follow the instructions to activate the product online.
• Congratulations, you have completed the process.

Mac Software:

• Visit http://chemstore.cambridgesoft.com/sitelicense.cfm?sid=488
• User Verification:
  • Enter valid institution email address. Only emails with valid domain(s) have access to site license.
• Account Verification:
  • Click "Continue" on account verification screen.
• CambridgeSoft User Account:
  • Login to your existing account. Email containing important information will be sent to the valid institution email address you entered above and not the email address of the account.
  • You will next see a download screen, you need not proceed any further.
• You will, in the next ten minutes, receive an email with a new serial number and registration code for your Mac which you need to load into ChemDraw Ultra, from the Activate choice in the ChemDraw menu.
