"As true today as a century ago, books bring the distilled insights and wisdom of scholars and teachers to learners at all levels of education at MIT. Laptops, PDAs, and electronically-enabled classrooms notwithstanding, books - wonderfully portable - remain essential." - Paul E. Gray, Professor of Engineering and Computer Science; President Emeritus

Honor with books

Honor a special MIT family member or friend with a lasting tribute—a bookplate in their name.

For each contribution of $100, a bookplate bearing the name of the person honored or remembered will be placed in a newly purchased book in the subject of your choice.

The Honor with Books Program is a wonderful way to recognize

  • a current student
  • a new graduate or alumnus
  • a favorite professor or colleague
  • or the memory of a loved one

Your contribution directly supports the Libraries and provides an enduring resource for MIT. Download and use this brochure to participate (PDF). Parents may also participate online via the Parents Association Web site. An acknowledgement will be sent to you or the friend or family member you are honoring.
