Putting Items on Course Reserve in Lindgren Library

  1. How early should I order textbooks for course reserves?

We recommend ordering textbooks for course reserves at least 1 month before the beginning of each semester, if not earlier. Some book orders can take months to arrive from the publisher.

  2. How do I go about placing materials on reserve for a class?

Please use the Reserves Request Form to place items on reserve through the MIT Libraries (print and/or online materials).

  3. Do I need to fill out a special form just to place a book on reserve in Lindgren Library?

No. If you choose to not use the form above, we will accept a request that includes:

    • the instructor's name
    • the name and e-mail address of a contact (the TA or course administrator)
    • the course name and number
    • book information that may include author, title, publisher, and date of publication; please also indicate the call number and edition if any of the books are already owned by the MIT Librares; you may put a personal copy on reserve as well as class notes

Submit this list to Lindgren Library, 54-200, attn: Joe Hankins.
