We serve
as an on-campus resource for conversion of paper and microform documents
to electronic formats. Some services are carried on-site, and others
are outsourced to selected vendors specializing in particular formats.
Examples
of the types of materials submitted for scanning and eConversion
by MIT Departments, Labs, and Centers would be technical reports,
working papers, and course materials bound for the Web.
Optical
character recognition (OCR) can be incorporated when scanning or
it can be applied to existing electronic files in order to enhance
text search ability.

of MIT Publications (technical reports, working papers, newsletters,
etc.)

records, correspondence

documents submitted for scanning may be:

to 22" x 32" in size

- Up to 600 DPI for black and white unbound originals
- Up to 400 DPI for all others
