Dewey Library has designated twelve rooms on the first and second floors of E53 as group study rooms
The rooms are:
- E53-208 and 218 (large group rooms) : capacity 12 people in each room
- E53-160b, 160c, 201 and 223 (medium group rooms) : capacity 10 people
- E53-160a, 231, 237, 238, 296, and 298 (small group rooms) : capacity 2-6 people
Each room is equipped with a wall-mounted LCD screen with laptop connector cable, conference phone (conference phones are not yet available in 1st floor rooms), and large white board. Whiteboard markers are available for loan at the Dewey information desk.
Anyone in the MIT community may reserve a group study room. Please observe the following restrictions:
- Rooms may be reserved for a maximum of 3 hours at a time
- Rooms may be reserved no more than 30 days in advance
- Priority is given to groups of two or more
- Rooms are only available during Dewey Library hours.
- Reservations cannot be placed over the phone or by e-mail.
To view room availability:
Visit https://Lib-E53-201.mit.edu/GroupView. Click on a room link to view a room’s features, including capacity and the number for the room’s conference phone. Note: Rooms are only available during Dewey Library hours. Please do not schedule a room when the library is closed - the group study rooms are not accessible when the library is closed.
To reserve a group study room
- Immediate reservation.
Follow the prompts on the touch screen devices mounted outside each room. These devices allow anyone to book an immediate reservation for up to 3 hours from the current time. This method cannot be used for scheduling future reservations or if the room is currently in use by someone else.
- To schedule in advance.
Visit http://owa.mit.edu and log in with your Kerberos ID [Note: you must have changed your Kerberos password within the last 12 months for this method to work.]
Once logged in:
- Select Calendar
- Click on “New Meeting Request”
- Click on the “Resources…” link
- In the search box near the top, type LIB: (including the colon), then click the magnifying glass icon to search. You should see a list of all Dewey group study rooms.
- Firefox users: Check the box beside the room number you wish to reserve and click the “Done” button at the bottom.
Internet Explorer users: Double-click the room number you wish to reserve and click the "OK" button at the bottom.
- Select the desired date and time of the reservation (must be during library hours; up to 30 days in advance; 3 hours maximum)
- Add your email address to the “Required…” field.
- Enter a description to recognize your meeting in the subject line.
- Click Send
- You will receive an email stating if your request was accepted or declined.
