Fragments of Notes of Travel

June 20, 1849 Left the wharf at Boston on Steamer Europa (Capt. [Lott?]) at 12^h15^m. During the afternoon the air was clear and the sea smooth. At night we were somewhat delayed by fog.
21. Emma slightly sick during the whole day. Kept her berth. The wind moderate but from east. Foggy at night.
22. Reached Halifax about 5.a.m. having been much delayed by fog and somewhat by adverse breeze. This morning the air became delicious - temperature pleasant - breeze from S.W. Emma able to enjoy the sun and breeze, as she lies on a settee on the upper deck.
25. Wind moderate from NE by E, our course a little S of E. The sky clear and the air bracing. E was able to go on deck and rest on a settee for some hours, after which she enjoyed a brisk walk on the upper deck; and had a superb view of the setting sun. A line of cirro-cum. betokened change.
26. About 12 in the night the wind veered to S of E - with some [mist],- it being [right] ahead…
