The “diagram” consists of a printed card to which a cardboard disk has been pinned so that users can rotate it to different settings. The device indicates the key signatures for all major and minor scales, as well as every degree for each scale. Lifting a flap made of ribbon (the red patch) reveals sharps and flats seen through a small window.
