Hi-Tech Classrooms

The following rooms are a list of technology-enabled classrooms where you can record lectures and presentations, do video conferencing and webcasts as well as rich media capture of presentations.

Bechtel Lecture Hall (1-390)

The Bechtel Lecture Hall is a 69 seat tiered classroom. This multi-use room has two front screen projectors, plasma displays for media support, remote controlled broadcast quality cameras, document camera and Windows PC in the lectern for presentations.

The room is equipped with push to talk microphones for student interaction and video conferencing capability for connecting point to point or in a multipoint up to 3 additional sites.

1-390 (map) is located on the 3rd floor at the end of the building closest to Killian Court.

Park Classroom for Innovative Education (3-370)

The Park Classroom is a 57 seat tiered classroom. This multi-use room has two front screen projectors, plasma displays for media support, remote controlled broadcast quality cameras, document camera and Windows PC in the lectern for presentations.

The room is equipped with push to talk microphones for student interaction and video conferencing capability for connecting point to point or in a multipoint up to 3 additional sites.

3-370 (map) is located on the 3rd floor at the end of the building closest to Building 1.

SMA Smart Classroom (8-404)

The SMA Smart Classrooms is an 18 seat flat classroom dedicated for use in the SMA program. This room has two 60" plasma displays, two 37" plasma displays for media support, remote controlled broadcast quality cameras, document camera and a Windows PC in the lectern for presentations. The room is equipped with ceiling microphones for student question and answers, and video conferencing capability for connection point to point or in a multipoint conference up to 3 additional sites.

LiNC Classroom (9-057)

This is a 40 seat, tiered classroom with remote controlled broadcast quality cameras, ceiling mounted document camera and Windows PC in the lectern for presentations.

The room is equipped with push to talk microphones for student interaction and video conferencing capability for connecting point to point or in a multipoint up to 3 additional sites.

The Stephen P. Kaufman Family Classroom for Instruction in Teaching (9-151)

The Kaufman Classroom is a videotape studio/classroom especially designed and equipped to help instructors improve their teaching skills. MIT faculty, teaching assistants, and instructional staff can have a class session videotaped in the Kaufman Classroom, and then meet with a professional teaching consultant to review the tape.

The classroom can accommodate up to 25 students. Movable tables and chairs allow for a variety of seating arrangements. The three cameras and six microphones in the room are inconspicuously placed and are controlled by a technician in a separate editing room. The Kaufman Classroom is fully equipped with the latest educational technologies.

Ford Room (9-152)

This is a 24 seat, flat classroom designed for distance education or classroom instruction in an intimate setting. It has remote controlled broadcast quality cameras, and a Windows PC for local and distance presentations.

The room is equipped with ceiling microphones for student interaction and video conferencing capability for connecting point to point or in a multipoint up to 3 additional sites.
