MIT Libraries Group Study Spaces

If you want to be alone, check out the MIT Libraries' individual-study spaces.

But if you need a place to study with friends, you'll find a variety of spaces in these libraries:

Group study room guidelines

These policies are intended to ensure fair and equitable access to group study spaces.

  • Any current MIT student, faculty member, or staff member may reserve a group study room.
  • Rooms are available only when the library is open.
  • Rooms may be reserved for up to three hours at a time.
  • We request that users do not schedule consecutive meetings, nor reserve a room for a recurring timeslot.
  • Rooms may be reserved no more than 30 days in advance.
  • Rooms are intended for groups of 2 or more. A group has priority over an individual’s use of a room, regardless of any reservation the individual has made.

Certain library conference and instruction rooms are also available (with restrictions) to MIT students, faculty, and staff, and may be scheduled only by library staff. These rooms are listed below.
