Laptops
Available for Use in Hayden Library
The Hayden
Library has
5 laptop computers available for loan from the circulation desk. Laptops
are equipped with built-in wireless cards for internet access in the
library.
Who can borrow
a laptop?
MIT faculty,
staff and students are eligible to borrow a Loaner Laptop.
What are the
laptop lending policies?
Upon check-out
borrowers are required to sign a Laptop
Computer Liability Agreement [available as pdf].
Borrowers must agree to assume responsibility for the laptop while it is
checked-out to them and pay fees incurred for any damages while the laptop
is in their possession.
- Laptops borrowed
from the Library are due within 3 hours of the time borrowed. Laptops
are due 1 hour before closing.
- Laptops are
for "in-house" use only and may not be removed from Library premises.
- Laptops are
available on a first come, first served basis and are renewable for additional
time if there is no one waiting.
- Laptops not
returned on time will be subject to overdue fees of $15.00/hour for each
hour overdue not to exceed $150/day. Laptops not returned within 24 hours
following the due date/time may be presumed lost and replacement fees
of $3000, in addition to overdue fees, may be assessed.
