About Faculty Office Delivery

Faculty Office Delivery offers faculty the opportunity to have books delivered to their offices upon request. The service takes 2-3 days, and is initiated using the “Your Account” feature in Barton.

FAQ


 

How do I request a book?

Find the book you want in Barton. Click on All Items . Click on “Request this item” and log in to “Your Account.” Select “office delivery” from the “Delivery location” drop-down menu.

How do I get access to Your Account?

You can access Your Account using MIT web certificates or your kerberos username/password. See: Access to Your Account in Barton Using Touchstone.

What if my address is wrong?

Please note that the MIT Libraries use your MIT address of record for delivery. If your address is incorrect, please fix it at: http://web.mit.edu/sapwebss/PS1/persinfo_home.shtml

How long will it take to get my book?

2-3 business days

How do I return my book?

You may use any book drop, library service desk, or campus mail.
Note
: Items must be packaged in an envelope (preferably the same one we sent it in). Campus mail won't accept books that aren't packaged.

What can I borrow using this service?

All books are available. Journals are not available. An exception may be made if an item is particularly fragile or too large to send through the mail. In this case you will be notified within one business day. Reserves items and reference materials are also not available for loan.

How many items can I borrow?

You are limited to 6 requests a day.

What if my book gets lost in the mail?

If your book does not arrive, or if it becomes apparent that your book did not get returned (if you sent it through the mail) please contact the Libraries immediately at delivery-feedback@mit.edu. We will make every effort to find the book.
