Book Scanners in the MIT Libraries

New self-service book scanners are now available in the MIT Libraries. These scanners are available for all library visitors to use instead of photocopying or printing, at no cost, and will allow easy scanning of most library materials.

Scanner Locations:

Book Scanner

Scanner Capabilities:

  • Scan bound or flat originals in full color, grayscale, and black & white modes
  • Scanner resolution goes up to 400 ppi/dpi in color
  • Scanner bed can accommodate materials up to 17x 24 inches

Output Options:

  • Save images from the scanner in various file formats: PDF, JPEG, PNG, and more
  • Send image files via email; save to a USB flash drive
  • USB flash drives are sold at library service desks for $7 each
